3.6.06 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA -- Senior Mardy Collins and Antywane Robinson were named to 2006 Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams voted on by the league coaches. For the second straight year Collins was selected to the first team while Robinson earned a spot on the A-10 second team. Collins also was named to the A-10 all-Defensive team.
Collins, who leads the Owls in scoring (17.1 ppg.), assists (3.8 apg.) and the A-10 in steals (2.7 spg.) becomes the eighth Temple player to be named first team all-Atlantic 10 in two seasons. He joins Lynn Greer (2001, 2002), Pepe Sanchez (1999, 2000), Marc Jackson (1996, 1997), Aaron McKie (1993, 1994), Mark Macon (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991), Tim Perry (1987, 1988) and Granger Hall (1984, 1985). He also is the fourth Owl to make consecutive appearances on the A-10 All-Defensive Team.
Robinson, who averaged 12.3 points and a team best 4.8 rebounds, earned a spot on the all-conference team for the first time in his career. It is the 18th time in the program's 24 year history in the league that two players were named all-conference, but the first since the 2001-02 season.
La Salle's Steven Smith earned his second straight A-10 Player of the Year award with George Washington's Karl Hobbs being named A-10 Coach of the Year. For the complete list of All-Conference honorees, see attached.
