FIELD HOCKEY PLACES FIVE ON NFHCA NATIONAL ACADEMIC SQUAD

PHILADELPHIA-Temple University Field Hockey had 5 players named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad, Executive Director Jennifer Goodrich announced on Monday.

Ashley Bird, Nadia Clendening and Elizabeth Watto are making their second straight appearance on the list, while Mary Catherine Kinneman is a first-time honoree.  Senior Ashley Shepps finishes her career earning the honor all four years.   To be eligible for the Division I National Academic Squad, players must have a cumulative grade point average above 3.2.

Under the guidance of Atlantic 10 Co-Coach of the Year Amanda Janney, the Owls captured their first winning season (11-9) since 1992 and appeared in their third consecutive Atlantic 10 tournament.  As the conference's two seed, the Owls fell to Massachusetts in overtime, 2-1.
