PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior field hockey player Ashley Shepps has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Women's At-Large Second Team, as selected by a vote of the country's sports information directors. A psychology major, Shepps has maintained a 3.89 grade point average throughout her four years as an Owl, culminating in the Temple Top Female Student Athlete of the Year Award.

Shepps, an NFHCA All-Region Selection, ranked third nationally in defensive saves with seven in leading the Temple field hockey team to an 11-10 record and its best finish (6-1) in Atlantic 10 play since 1989. The Lebanon, PA (Cedar Crest HS) native is a four-time member of the NFHCA All-Academic team and is a member of Temple's Trustees' Honor Roll, which celebrates the Top 10 student athletes. Shepps garnered Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team honors and was voted Second Team All-Atlantic 10. The senior was selected to the 2005 Dartfish/NFHCA Division I Mid-Atlantic Regional Team and was an alternate in the NFHCA North/South All-Star Game.

Shepps was also the recipient of both the Anne Volp Field Hockey Scholar Award and the Anne Volp Owl Club Academic Award. In Anne's honor, two awards are given each year to deserving Temple Field Hockey student-athletes. Shepps is the first TU field hockey player to earn both in the same year.
