PHILADELPHIA -- Head Coach Amanda Janney and the Temple field hockey team have announced their schedule for the upcoming 2006 season. The Owls, coming off an 11-10 overall record and a program-best 6-1 Atlantic 10 mark, open their season at home against Lehigh University on August 26.
The Owls will once again host the Temple University Invitational on September 2 and 3. Others teams participating are Rutgers and Michigan State. Rutgers is coming off a 7-12 season while Michigan state posted a 12-8 record in 2005.
Temple will compete in the University of Maryland Tournament on September 9 and 10. The Owls square off against two powerhouses in the Terrapins and American University. Maryland earned the 2005 NCAA title, while American won the Patriot League Championship.
TU begins Conference play on October 6 when it travels to Massachusetts and host Saint Louis and A-10 defending champion Richmond on October 20. Massachusetts, Rhode Island, La Salle, West Chester, and Saint Joseph's are all Atlantic 10 road matches for Temple. The season will be capped off with the Atlantic 10 Tournament to be held at Richmond on November 3 and 4.
