PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team extended their winning streak to four games following a 2-1 victory over Delaware Friday evening. Freshman forward Mandi Ruth contributed her team-leading fifth goal of the season while sophomore defender Emily Ziegler tallied the first goal of her Temple career. With the win, the Cherry and White improve to 7-3 overall while Delaware falls to 3-6.

After watching the first 30 minutes of action result in an offensive stalemate, the final five minutes of the first half produced the match's only scoring production. Temple broke the scoring silence after junior midfielder Alli Lokey set up Ziegler at the 30:52 mark. The hosts responded less than two minutes later when Jessica Cortellino's unassisted goal evened the scoring at one goal apiece.

With just under two minutes remaining in the first stanza, and less than a minute following Cortellino's equalizer, Ruth provided the match's eventual game-winner following Ziegler's feed at the 33:17 mark. The Owls controlled a majority of the game's offensive possessions as they produced seven penalty corners to Delaware's one.

Defensively, Temple sophomore goalkeeper Erin Hanshue stopped two shots in the win while Delaware goalkeeper Nikki Rhoades recorded one save.

The Owls return to action Sunday against Lafayette at 1:00 p.m.
