MANDI RUTH NAMED A-10 FIELD HOCKEY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple freshman Mandi Ruth has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, the league offices announced Tuesday.  In game one of the annual Temple Field Hockey Invitational, Ruth headlined the Owls' 3-2 win over Rutgers with two goals.

 

Fellow freshman Charise Young's pass set up Ruth's first collegiate tally at the 29:26 mark of the first half.  After Rutgers tied the match, Ruth again provided the Owls with a one-goal advantage when sophomore Liz Watto found her in front of the cage with just over two minutes left in the first session.

 

The Owls return to action Wednesday evening at Geasey Field when they host Rider at 6:00 p.m.
