Dionte Christmas Named A-10 Co-Player of the Week

PHILADELPHA - Temple University sophomore guard Dionte Christmas was picked up his second Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor of the season as he shares the honor with Fordham junior guard Marcus Stout for the week ending January 20. Christmas had previously been named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending December 2.
The Philadelphia native (Philadelphia Lutheran Christian Academy) scored a career-high 31 points on nine-of-18 shooting (6-12 3PT) in the Owls 85-77 loss to A-10 leader Rhode Island Saturday. In Temple's other game, Christmas helped the Cherry and White snap a five-game losing streak by scoring 22 points and grabbing a career-high eight rebounds. For the week, Christmas averaged 26.5 points, 6.5 rebounds while hitting 15-of-31 from the field (.484), nine-of-16 from three-point range (.565) and 14-of-16 from the line (.875).
Christmas continues to lead the A-10 in scoring with a 20.1 scoring average and 20-point games (12).. He also ranks second in the conference in free throw percentage (.895), fifth in three-pointers made (2.76 pg.), seventh in field goal percentage (.477), eighth in three-point percentage (.427) and tied for ninth in steals (1.41).
Temple (7-10) next travels to head coach Fran Dunphy's former home, The Palestra, for a Wednesday game at Penn (8:00 p.m./CN8/1210 AM).
