Field Hockey Hosts Last Home Game Against La Salle

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple field hockey team will host its last home game this season against La Salle Friday, October 19 at Geasey Field. The game will celebrate the seniors and their contributions to the team over the last four years. The Owls enter the game with a 12-5 overall record and tied for first in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 3-1 record.
The Cherry and White began playing the Explorers in 1974. The Owls lead La Salle in the all-time series 25-3-1. Temple has won nine of the last 10 meetings with the Explorers and has outscored them 22-6.
In last year's contest against La Salle the Owls defeated the Explorers 1-0. Senior Alli Lokey scored the game's only goal at the 10:26 mark, which came courtesy from just one of the Owls two penalty corners on the afternoon. On the score, junior Mary Catherine Kinneman and senior Leanne Vogelsong were credited with the assist. The Explorer offense forced little pressure on goalkeeper Erin Hanshue in firing just two shots, both went wide. The game marked Hanshues fifth shutout last season.
Temple is currently ranked 16 on the womensfieldhockey.com weekly poll. The website voted Lokey onto this weeks honor roll for her efforts in the week beginning October 8. Lokey also received Atlantic 10 Player Of The Week for the third time this season and the second consecutive week.
Lokey is tied for second in the nation in goals and is second in the nation in points, fifth in points per game, and ninth in goals per game. She leads the Atlantic 10 in goals (15), goals per game (0.88), points (37), points per game (2.18), shots (99), shots per game (5.82), game winning goals (5), and is tied for first in assists (7). Hanshue is ranked fifth in the nation in save percentage (.822). Sophomore Dannah Brehm, Vogelsong, and Lokey are among the top 50 in the nation for overall assists this season.
The seniors that will be honored on Friday are Ashley Bird, Nadia Clendening, Alli Lokey, and Leanne Vogelsong.
