PHILADELPHIA - Orlando Miller, who originally walked on to the men's basketball team in the fall of 2003, has been awarded a full scholarship for this, his final season with the Temple Owls, announced head coach Fran Dunphy.
"Orlando works as hard as any member of the team, and we are happy to be able to reward his effort," said Dunphy.
Miller, who played in seven games as a freshman in 2003-04 and four last season as a junior, has scored three career points and grabbed two career rebounds. Born in Jamaica, the six-foot, six-inch forward moved to Lanham, Md. where he attended High Point High School in nearby Beltsville.
Miller and his teammates will make their public debut with Cherry and White Night on Friday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. The free event, open to the public and held at McGonigle Hall, will feature the Temple men's and women's basketball teams each holding separate scrimmages and culminate with a "Walk For The Cure" led by Dunphy and Temple women's head coach Dawn Staley and their respective teams.
