Field Hockey Moves To #16 On Womensfieldhockey.com Weekly Poll

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple field hockey team moved up in the womensfieldhockey.com poll to #16 this week, the website announced Tuesday. The Owls' have a 9-4 record this season. All four of the Cherry and White losses have been to nationally ranked teams.
The Owls' extended their winning streak to five with a 3-1 win against Rider September 25. The Owls' offense started the first half scoring 10 minutes into the game. Junior Mary Catherine Kinneman dribbled the ball to the right side of the field in Broncs territory. Kinneman crossed the ball to the stick of fellow Owl Dannah Brehm, who one-timed the ball into the back of the cage. Just 10 minutes later the Owls' struck again. Senior Ashley Bird passed the ball to Junior Jamie Adams who placed the ball into the cage. Adams scored her second goal, and the team's final of the game, at the 52:42 minute mark.
On September 30, #2 ranked Maryland ended Temple's winning streak in a 3-1 defeat. Temple found the cage off a two-on-one situation. Senior Alli Lokey sent a pass to sophomore Kasey Ruth for the Owls' only goal of the game and her second of the season. Junior goalie Erin Hanshue turned in a tremendous performance with a career high 18 saves. After last week's efforts Hanshue holds a .804 save percentage ranking her 12th in the nation.
Temple will take on Atlantic 10 Conference rival, Richmond, at home on Geasey Field. The game will be played on October 5 at 3:00 p.m.
