SAINT LOUIS, MO- Senior Alli Lokey scored three goals in today's game against Saint Louis, 3-1, to help Temple earn its first Atlantic 10 win this season. The win moves the Owls to 1-1 in the Atlantic 10 and 10-5 overall. The Billikens fall to 0-2 in the Atlantic 10 and 2-12 overall.
The first half remained scoreless until the 28 minute mark when sophomore Dannah Brehm crossed the ball to Lokeys stick. Lokey, who was in front of the cage, sent the ball high into the left corner for the Owls first goal. Just three minutes later the Billikens came back to tie up the score. The goal was scored by junior Jacklyn McGranahan off a penalty corner. The assists were credited to freshman Kelsey Shultz and junior Christine Frampus.
Temple returned in the second half determined to win. The Owls scored early in the half at the 37 minute mark. Sophomore Charise Young dribbled the ball into the Billikens circle from the right side. Young crossed the ball to Lokey for her second goal of the game. With only five minutes remaining Temple was awarded a penalty corner. Young passed the ball to Senior Leanne Vogelsong who stopped the ball for Lokey's third goal of the game and her 11th of the season.
Temple dominated Saint Louis in shots (20-11) and penalty corners (12-8). Junior goalie Erin Hanshue recorded seven saves for the Owls.
The Cherry and White will be returning home for the first of a three game home stand on Friday, October 12. The Owls will take on Massachusetts at 3:00 p.m.
