Men's Basketball Looks For First Win Against Marist Sunday Morning

SAN JUAN, PR - Temple and Marist will square off for only the second time Sunday morning (11:00 AM EST) in the consolation bracket of the O'Reilly ESPNU Puerto Rico Tip-Off Classic in San Juan. The first meeting was an 82-62 Temple win in Poughkeepsie on Jan. 19, 1982. The game will be televised live by ESPNU and broadcast on The Big Talker, 1210 AM WPHT.

The Owls, under the direction of second-year head coach Fran Dunphy, fell to 0-3 following Friday's 79-76 loss to Charleston. The Owls led 50-25 at intermission only to lose on a last second three-pointer by Dustin Scott. Junior Dionte Christmas led all scorers with 32 points while senior guard Mark Tyndale added 20 points.

Marist, under the direction of fourth-year head coach Matt Brady, fell to 1-2 with a loss to Houston, 64-58. The Red Foxes were led by Jay Gavin (16 points) and Ben Farmer (9 points, 8 rebounds).

The Owls are off for Thanksgiving before returning to the road for a Mid-American Conference swing. Temple plays at Bowling Green on Saturday, Nov. 24 and then travel to Akron for a game on Nov. 26.
