Juniors Bird And Lokey Receive City 6 All-Star Status

PHILADELPHIA - Juniors Ashley Bird and Alli Lokey have been selected to the 2006 City 6 All-Star Field Hockey Team following a vote conducted by the coaching staffs of the six city schools in Philadelphia.
"Ashley and Alli both produced career years for our team and were key components to one of the best seasons Temple field hockey has experienced," said Owls' head coach Amanda Janney. "It's rewarding to see how their dedication and hard work being recognized by our opponents' coaches. Being named a City 6 all-star means that you are one of the top collegiate players in Philadelphia and I'm proud that Bird and Lokey can represent our team with this honor."
Bird, a Harrisburg, Pa. native, receives the honor after making 20 starts and posting a career-best five points on one goal and three assists. In addition to garnering second team all-Atlantic 10 honors, Bird was honored as a member of the NFHCA National and all-conference academic teams.
Lokey receives the city honor after posting career-highs in goals (10) and points (24). The Bainbridge, Pa. native led the Cherry and White in five offensive categories including goals, points, shots (62), shots on goal (40) and game-winning goals (5). She also ranked in a tie for the team's spot in assists with four.
Joining Bird and Lokey on the all-star team are Drexel's Sarah Gostomski and Mily Horvat, La Salle's Amy Comstock and Allison Geiger, Penn's Liz Schlossberg, Saint Joseph's Nicole Antonini and Lauren Luft, and Villanova's Lauren Campanelli, Stephanie Campbell and Megan Foster.
