PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team, under the direction of third-year head coach Amanda Janney, has announced its 2007 schedule. The Owls will begin their regular season on Saturday, August 25 at Lehigh before hosting the Temple University Invitational Tournament, at Geasey Field, on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2. TU will also meet three 2006 NCAA Tournament teams in National Champion Maryland, in-state rival Penn State and Atlantic 10 Champion Richmond.

"With only losing one player (Megan Hannahoe) to graduation from last season, we're really looking forward to the 2007 season," commented Janney. "We're very pleased that the Temple University Tournament Invitational will again bring three strong teams to Geasey Field. We really feel that this kind of non-conference schedule and another competitive Atlantic 10 season will prepare us for the postseason and build on the future of our program."

The annual Temple University Invitational Tournament will feature cross-city rival Penn, Lock Haven and Kent State. The Owls will battle Penn on Saturday before clashing with Lock Haven on Sunday. In addition, Temple will host Virginia Commonwealth (Sun., Sept. 16), Vermont (Fri., Sept. 21), Lafayette (Sat., Sept. 22) and Rider (Tues., Sept. 25).

The Cherry and White non-conference schedule includes seven games away from North Broad Street and is highlighted by a trip to College Park, Md., on Sunday, September 30, against the two-time defending National Champion Terrapins. Temple will travel to Albany (Fri., Sept. 7), Syracuse (Sun., Sept. 9), Penn State (Wed., Sept. 12) and cross-city rival Drexel (Wed., Sept. 19). The Cherry and White will also meet Michigan in College Park, Md. on Thursday, August 30.

The Owls' quest for their first A-10 Championship since 1994 begins on Friday, October 5 at Geasey Field against the five-time defending Champion Spiders. Temple will also host Massachusetts (Fri., Oct. 12), Rhode Island (Sun., Oct. 14) and La Salle (Fri., Oct. 19). The Cherry and White will take to the road against Saint Louis (Sun., Oct. 7), West Chester (Sun., Oct. 21) and Saint Joseph's (Sat., Oct. 27).

"We'll be looking to build upon our momentum generated from a great spring season," added Janney.  "We played and were successful against some quality competition the last few weeks.  The experience of this team is starting to take shape."

The 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship will be held at Saint Joseph's on Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3. The NCAA Tournament Play-In date is set for Monday, November 5 while the first and second rounds will be played Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11. The NCAA Tournament's semifinals and final rounds will be held at Maryland on Friday, November 16 and Sunday, November 18.
