PHILADELPHIA -
"The Palestra: Cathedral of Basketball", a feature-length documentary film, will debut nationally on ESPN Classic Thursday, July 5 at 10:00 p.m. The film traces the evolution of college basketball through the rise of the most historic arena in the country.
The film will also air on ESPN Classic on August 4 (8 a.m.) and on ESPNU on July 11 (10 p.m.), July 16 (9 p.m.), and July 27 (9 a.m.). Temple basketball will be featured in the film in its many Big 5 battles held at The Palestra. Current Temple coach Fran Dunphy, who served as Penn's head coach for 17 years (1989-2006), will also have a prominent role in the film.
The film combines interviews with noted figures in college basketball and never-before-seen historical footage, with the voiceover by broadcasting legend Harry Kalas.
