PHILADELPHIA- Temple Field Hockey recorded its first loss in the 2007 season against Michigan Thursday night at Maryland. The Owls record now stands at 1-1.
Temple started the scoring off with a goal from senior Ashley Bird. The assist on the goal was tallied by fellow senior Leanne Vogelsong. The goal came off a penalty corner 40 minutes into the contest. Michigan answered back to the Cherry and White goal two minutes later to make the game tied at 1-1. Senior Wolverine, Ashley Lennington, scored unassisted off a corner that hopped over the Owls goalie, Erin Hanshue. With the game tied and the clock running out, Lennington scored the unassisted game winning goal to topple the Owls.
The Owls return to Geasey Field for their home opener against Penn on Saturday, September 2. This weekend Temple will be hosting its annual Temple Field Hockey Invitational Tournament.
