PHILADELPHIA- The Temple field hockey team defeated Lafayette, 2-0, at Temple's Geasey Field on Saturday, September 22.The win raises the Owls' record to 8-3 and drops Lafayette's record to 2-5 overall. Temple has won its last four games.
"It felt good to come out in the first 10 minutes of the second half and score," said sophomore Dannah Brehm about the win. "I think that it picked up everyone's momentum a little bit more, which made everyone play a little bit harder. I feel like we're playing really good. I think this is the year to do something. We're playing a lot better together and starting to learn each other on the field."
Brehm scored the game's first goal in the second half. Fellow sophomore Charise Young took at shot at cage, but it was deflected off the Lafayette goalkeeper's pads. Brehm recovered the ball and placed it into the cage, giving the Owls the advantage. Just 12 minutes later, Brehm passed the ball to senior Alli Lokey who put the game away for the Owls with her eighth goal of the season.
The Owls dominated the Leopards in shots, 17-6, and in penalty corners, 6-3.
