Field Hockey Ranked #18 In Womensfieldhockey.com Weekly Poll

PHILADELPHIA- Temple field hockey is ranked #18 in this week's poll for womensfieldhockey.com, the website announced Tuesday. The website also voted senior Alli Lokey Player of the Week. The Cherry and White currently boast a 9-3 season record.
The Owls were ranked after a acquiring a 3-0 record in last week's competitions. Temple's wins were over Drexel, Vermont, and Lafayette. Lokey netted two goals, including the game-winner in double overtime, to give Temple a 2-1 win over Drexel September 19. Five minutes into second overtime session, Lokey, given a pass by junior Jamie Adams, dribbled around Drexel's goalie and placed the game-winner into the cage.
Senior Leanne Vogelsong tallied the game-winner in the Owls' 2-1 overtime victory against Vermont September 21. Vogelsong's goal was her first of the season. In the contest against Lafayette on September 22 sophomore Dannah Brehm scored the game's first goal in the 2-0 victory. Brehm, who also recorded an assist, passed the ball to Lokey who put the game away for the Owls.
Over the last three games, Lokey led all Temple scorers with eight points on three goals and two assists. Lokey is currently ranked 15th in the nation for points per game and 22nd for goals per game. The Atlantic 10 Conference also awarded Lokey Player Of The Week for her efforts last week.
Temple extended its winning streak to five games this week with a 3-1 win over Rider Tuesday night. The Owls will compete next at #2 Maryland on September 30 at 2:00 p.m.
