PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's basketball team will open its 2007-08 Atlantic 10 Conference schedule on Saturday, January 12 at Charlotte as the University announced its entire slate for the upcoming season. The Owls had released their non-conference schedule in early August.
"Every team is tough in the A-10, so opening at Charlotte will not be easy for Temple," said second-year head coach Fran Dunphy. "The Conference is loaded with great coaches and great players and we are looking forward to the challenge ahead of us this season."
Temple will play each Atlantic 10 Conference member once while facing Charlotte, Fordham and Saint Joseph's twice for a total of 16 league games.
The Owls' A-10 home opener will be on January 16 against Xavier, one of two conference teams to make the NCAA Tournament in 2006-07. The Owls will also host 2007 A-10 Champion George Washington along with Charlotte, Duquesne, Fordham, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Saint Joseph's.
Temple concludes its' A-10 schedule at La Salle on March 8.
The 2008 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship will again be held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. The top 12 teams will take part in the tournament that commences with first round action on Wednesday, March 12.
