PHILADELPHIA - Junior Dannah Brehm’s second half goal was all that the Temple Field Hockey needed as the Owls picked up their second consecutive conference win with 1-0 road victory at La Salle on Sunday afternoon.
Brehm was able to break the scoreless tie with her goal in the 43rd minute. The goal was Brehm’s fifth of the season and was her fourth game-winning goal of the season, tied for the Atlantic 10 lead. Brehm’s goal was assisted by junior Charise Young.
In goal for the Cherry and White (6-8, 2-0), senior Erin Hanshue picked up her third shutout of the season, picking up two saves in the process.
After struggling through a tough non-conference slate that featured many of the country’s elite teams, the Cherry and White appear to be picking up momentum at exactly the right time. The Owls are now 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 2005 and picked up their first true road victory of the season against the Explorers (5-10, 0-2).
The Owls return home on Friday for a critical conference match-up against Saint Louis. Play is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m..
