PHILADELPHIA (10/16/08) – Junior Charise Young had a part in every goal, recording three assists and one goal, and Liz Watto added two goals as the Temple field hockey team dominated Saint Louis 4-1 in A-10 action from Geasey Field on Friday afternoon.

With the win, Owls improve to 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 2005.

After falling behind 1-0 in the 14th minute thanks to a Billikens' (4-9, 0-2) goal from Jacklyn McGranahan, the Owls’ came to life as it always seems to do at Geasey Field this season. The Cherry and White (7-8, 3-0) responded with two goals in a three minute to take back the lead.

First, in the 23rd minute, Young scored off a penalty corner assist from Mary Catherine Kinneman to tie the game 1-1. Just three minutes later, Mandi Ruth scored her fifth goal of the season to give the Owls a 2-1 lead.Ruth’s goal came off Young’s first assist of the game.

Leading 2-1 heading into the second half, it was all about the Young to Watto connection that has been so successful for the Owls since the start of conference play.

The combo first hooked up in the 38th minute, as Watto scored her fifth goal of the season when she slipped a goal past the keeper on Young’s long pass form the top of the circle, giving the Owls a commanding 3-1 lead. They connected one last time in the 45th minute, with Watto scoring her second goal of the game and sixth and season, while Young completed the assist hat trick.

With the win, Owls continued their dominance at Geasey Field. The Cherry and White are 5-2 at home this season, outscoring their opponents 23-11 in the process.

In goal for the Cherry and White, senior Erin Hanshue recorded four saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Dalrymple also saw time in net.

The Owls will have little to time savor this victory, as they hit the road to face Richmond on Sunday in arguably the team’s biggest game of the season. The Owls have never beaten Richmond in 13 attempts. Play scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
