PHILADELPHIA - Traveling across town to face city rival Penn, the Owls could not overcome four first half goals from the Quakers as the Cherry and White fell 4-1 in non-conference action Wednesday night.
Senior Jamie Adams added the only goal for the Cherry and White (7-10, 3-1), scoring her second goal of the season in the 26th minute. The goal was assisted by Taryn Nichols.
For the Quakers (4-10), Rachel Eng scored the first two goals of the game, in the 5th and 12th minutes that gave Penn an early lead that they would never relinquish. After Adams' goal cut the lead to 2-1, Penn's Kathryn Rose and Kelsey Tahan added goals late in the first half to bring the score to the 4-1 final.
In goal for the Cherry and White, senior Erin Hanshue added one save.
The Owls return to conference action on Sunday, when they travel to #16 UMass for a critical A-10 match-up. Play is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
