Field Hockey Falls to Michigan 3-1

ANN ARBOR, MI - Hitting the road for the final time before the start of conference play, the Temple field hockey team could not overcome two Michigan goals in the first 10 minutes of play, as the Owls fell to the Wolverines 3-1 on Friday afternoon.
Senior Liz Watto scored the only goal for the Cherry and White, registering an unassisted goal following a penalty corner in the 62nd minute of play. The goal is Watto's second on the season.
The Wolverines wasted no time getting on the board at home, as Byrn Bain kicked off the scoring with a goal in the third minute on a ball deflected off of a Temple defender's stick, giving the Wolverines and early 1-0 lead. Then,just five minutes later, Michigan's Stephanie Hoyer scored to give the Wolverine's a commanding 2-0 advantage.
Michigan would add its final goal in second half when Kelly Fitzpatrick scored from the top of the circle in the 37th minute.
In goal for the Cherry and White, Erin Hanshue added two saves.
The Owls conclude non-conference with another Big Ten power, this time traveling to to #8 Michigan State. Play is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
