PHILADELPHIA - In honor of Play 4 The Cure Field Hockey Month to promote breast cancer awareness, the Temple Field Hockey team would like to encourage all fans to wear pink to both this Friday's conference opener against West Chester as well as against Saint Louis on Friday, October 17th.

"The field hockey community has made a very big push to support breast cancer awareness and we are happy to support Play 4 The Cure and their fundraising and awareness campaign," said head coach Amanda Janney.

The team will be sponsoring a number of events during this Friday's Play 4 The Cure game against West Chester. Members of the Temple team will be throwing out special Temple breast cancer awareness t-shirts prior to the game and fans will be able to enter a raffle to win prizes each time the Owls score a goal. There will also be a "spin, dribble and shoot" contest taking place at halftime.

The Temple Bookstore will also be at the game to sell special "Owls for the Cure" t-shirts, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Susan G. Korman for the Cure Philadelphia.

The game will also be the first game of the season that can be viewed on Owl Access. Action is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
