Field Hockey's Kinneman and Young Both Receive Honors

PHILADELPHIA - Temple Field Hockey players Charise Young and Mary Catherine Kinneman were both honored for their stellar play during the 2008 season on Wednesday. Kinneman was named First Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region and was selected to participate in the Division I Senior All-Star Game. Young was tabbed Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region.
The First Team selection is the first of Kinneman's career after being named to the Second-Tema in 2007.She will play in the Division I Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, November 22nd at the University of Louisville. The game honors the top Division I senior field hockey players in the nation. The reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Year started every game for the Owls and notched a career-high five assists, which is tied for sixth in the A-10 . She played on both attack and defensive corners as the corner hitter and right trail. In addition, the senior back from Lansdale, Pa., anchors a defensive unit that has blanked three opponents this season.
Young was selected as a member of the Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region, which is voted on by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). The reigning A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year Award led the Owls in goals (eight) and points (23) for the season. Her .333 shot percentage also leads the team, while her seven assists are tied for second in the A-10.
