PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior guard Chris Clark has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Co-Player of the Week for the week ending February 3. Clark shares the honor with Saint Joseph's Pat Calathes.
It is the first weekly honor of the Owl co-captain's career. The 5-8 reserve guard averaged 16.5 points per game while shooting 75 percent (12-of-16) from the field in leading Temple to two Atlantic 10 Conference wins. In a 58-50 win at Fordham on Jan. 31, Clark scored a then-career-high 16 points, making six-of-nine shots from the field. He followed that with a career-high 17 points in a 93-80 win over George Washington on Sunday at the Liacouras Center.
It marked the second and third double-figure scoring games of his career. Clark has been on fire of late, averaging 9.3 points per game in A-10 play - third best on the team. He is also connecting on a team-best 54.1 percent from the field in league play.
The Owls (11-9, 4-2 in A-10) travel to Richmond (11-9, 4-3) for a Wednesday game (7:00 p.m.) with the Spiders.
