PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior guard Mark Tyndale has been invited to the 2008 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. The Portsmouth Invitational, which will be held in Portsmouth, VA from April 9 through 12, is the nation's oldest amateur basketball tournament, celebrating its 56th year of showcasing senior men's basketball players.

The Philadelphia native (Simon Gratz) is one of the most versatile athletes in Temple men's basketball history . The 6-5 swingman is second on the Owls and ninth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring with a 16.2 average. He leads the team in rebounding (6.8 rpg.), assists (112) and steals (43), while ranking second in minutes played (37.5 mpg.)

Tyndale needs nine more assists to pass Mark Macon and move into 10th place on the all-time list in that category. If he does that, he will stand alone as the only player to rank among Temple's Top 20 in scoring and rebounding while also ranking among the Top 10 in assists and steals. He currently ranks 11th on the all-time scoring list with 1,642 points, 12th on the all-time rebounding list with 677 rebounds and 10th on the all-time steals list (190).

The Owl co-captain also has been named Big 5 Player of the Week twice this season.
