Mark Tyndale Named Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior Mark Tyndale has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending March 2. Tyndale earns his second Big 5 weekly honor of the season and the fifth of his career.
The Philadelphia native (Simon Gratz HS) averaged 12 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game to help the Owls to a 2-0 week. In a 76-61 win over Charlotte on Feb. 27, the 6-5 guard scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished a team-high six assists. In a 57-56 Big 5 win over Saint Joseph's at The Palestra on Mar. 2, he scored a game-high 15 points, including the winning basket with 20 seconds to play. He made seven of eight field goals in the game and was a perfect six-of-six in the second half to help the Owls overcome a 14-point deficit. He also grabbed eight rebounds and dished three assists. For the week he made 10 of 13 field goal attempts (.769) and two of four three-pointers.
On the year, the Temple co-captain ranks second on the team in scoring (16.2 ppg.) while leading the squad in rebounding (6.8 rpg.), assists (4.0 apg.) and steals (1.6 spg.).
The Owls (16-12, 9-5) host Duquesne in their regular season finale Wednesday Night game (7:00 p.m./1210 AM WPHT/Comcast SportNet). Tyndale and fellow seniors Chris Clark, Orlando Miller along with managers Lauren Adee, Olumide Adeyemo and Daniel Haubert will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
