PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's basketball team was ranked as the 20th most prestigious college basketball program in the modern era of college basketball according to Espn.com on Thursday. Espn.com has come up with an elaborate system of ranking the NCAA Division I college basketball program, giving point values for such categories as NCAA titles, conference titles, Elite Eight appearances, All-Americans, and more. The Cherry and White totaled 179 points, the second highest total in the Atlantic 10 conference behind Xavier (187 points), which ranked #17. The Owls high point total was a result of 13 conference titles (6 regular-season, 7 tourney); 15 20-win seasons; 17 NCAA berths; 5 Elite Eights; and 6 NITs.
