PHILADELPHIA - Temple University men's basketball coach Fran Dunphy was named the Best College Coach in the Philadelphia area by Philadelphia Magazine in the Best of Philadelphia edition that is currently on newsstands.

"I am honored that the magazine chose me as there are so many quality college coaches in the Philadelphia area," Dunphy said.

In just his second year at the helm of the Temple program, Dunphy guided the Owls to the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Picked to finished ninth in the A-10 coaches' preseason poll, the Cherry and White posted a 21-13 record, including an 11-5 conference mark to place second in the regular season standings.
