PHILADELPHIA - With the start of season just nine days away, the Temple field hockey team's preseason training will hit its peak over the weekend with two events. On Saturday, the Owls will participate in the Philadelphia Field Hockey Extravaganza from the campus of Drexel University. On Sunday, the Owls will partake in the annual Cherry and White Scrimmage from Geasy Field.
The Philadelphia Field Hockey Extravaganza will take place at Buckley Field on Drexel University's Vidas Athletic Complex, beginning at 9 am on Saturday. The Owls join Drexel, La Salle, Lehigh, Rider, St. Joseph's, and Netherlands Club Team MHC Beuningen in the all-day event. The purpose of the Extravaganza is to showcase and highlight the sport of field hockey through the day-long competition to area high school field hockey athletes who have and to highlight premier field hockey within the city of Philadelphia.
The annual Cherry and White Scrimmage will take place at 3:00 pm on Sunday from Geasy Field. A preseason tradition, the team will be divided into Cherry and White squads for the team's major intra-squad game of the season.
