STATE COLLEGE, Pa - Despite registering six shots on goal, the Temple field hockey could never quite find the back of the net, as the Owls fell to #11 Penn State 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Liz Watto and junior Dannah Brehm both had two shots on goal to lead the Cherry and White (3-2), as the Owls would pressure Nittnay Lion goal keeper Jen Baeumont all game long, but to no avail. Juniors Charise Young and Kristen Wanner also added shots on goal for the Owls
The Nittnay Lions (2-2) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Penn State's Jen Long scored at he 3:50 mark to give the Nittany Lions a quick 1-0 lead. Just five minutes later, PSU's Jessica Longstre knocked in goal to build a quick 2-0 lead. The Lions two more goals in the second half to bring the score to the 4-0 final.
Senior Erin Hanshue made three saves in defeat for the Cherry and White.
It's a quick turnaround for the Owls, as they head to the Lehigh Valley to take on Lafayette on Friday. Play is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
