PHILADELPHIA - Temple University All-America candidate Dionte Christmas has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Co-Player of the Week for the week ending January 11. It is his third Big 5 Player of the Week honor this season and the ninth of his career.

Christmas, who shares the honor with Saint Joseph's senior forward Ahmad Nivins, averaged 24.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals to lead the Owls to three straight wins. The 6-5 guard scored 30 points Sunday in the Cherry and White's 75-68 win at La Salle, his 10th 30-point game of his career. The Philadelphia native also moved past Granger Hall and into ninth place on TU all-time scoring list with 1,675 points.

Christmas, who leads the Big 5 and Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring (21.0 ppg.), will look to help Temple stretch its win streak to four straight Wednesday when the Owls travel to The Palestra to take on Penn (7:00 p.m./Comcast Network/1210 AM WPHT).
