Shaqwedia Wallace Named Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Kristen McCarthy earns Big 5 Honor Roll recognition
PHILADELPHIA - The first Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor for the season has gone to Temple junior Shaqwedia Wallace, for her outstanding play in the Owls' overtime win vs. Illinois on Nov. 13.
In the season-opening overtime thriller, Wallace scored 17 points in the second-half on her way to a career high 27, including 4-for-9 from beyond the arc. She also had five rebounds and tied a team-high four steals, as she rallied the Owls from an 18-point deficit.
Three players in the Big 5 also earned Honor Roll recognition, including Temple sophomore Kristen McCarthy, who tied a career-high 19 points and added three assists, four steals, and one block in the win. She went 8-for-11 from the free throw line, including a clutch 3-for-3 performance with 16 seconds remaining to force overtime with the score tied at 75.
