Lavoy Allen Named Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University sophomore Lavoy Allen has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending February 8. It is the first weekly honor of his career.
Allen averaged 18.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game over two games last week. On Thursday in a nationally-televised game against then #9/9 Xavier, the Morrisville, Pa, native (Pennsbury HS) scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds in an 83-74 defeat. The 6-9 forward, who made 17 of 27 shots from the field (62.9%) on the week, followed that with a career-high 23 points and game-high 13 rebounds in a 68-62 win over Rhode Island on Sunday. It marked his eighth double-double of the season
For the season, Allen leads Temple and ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 7.8 rebound average. He also tops the Cherry and White with a 56.8 field goal percentage and 35 blocked shots while ranking second on the squad with an 11.0 scoring average.
Allen and the Owls take on Saint Joseph's Thursday night (7:00 p.m/ESPN2/1210 AM WPHT) at The Palestra.
