Lavoy Allen Earns Second Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week Honor

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University sophomore Lavoy Allen has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending February 22. It is the second time he has earned the honor this season. He was also named College ChalkTalk.com's A-10 Player of the Week.
Allen averaged 19.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and shot 14-of-19 (73.7%) from the field over two Temple wins last week. On Wednesday he posted 19 points and 11 rebounds, both game-highs, to lead the Owls to a 72-45 win over Fordham. In a 70-56 victory over St. Bonaventure, the 6-9 forward scored 20 points, making all eight of his field goal attempts, while pulling down a career-high and Liacouras Center record 18 rebounds.
For the season, Allen leads Temple and ranks third in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 8.2 rebound average. He also tops the Cherry and White with a 58.3 field goal percentage and 42 blocked shots while ranking second on the squad with an 11.4 scoring average. The Morrisville, Pa. native (Pennsbury HS) has posted 10 double-doubles on the season and five over the last seven games.
Allen and the Owls take on La Salle Thursday night (7:00 p.m/1210 AM WPHT) at the Liacouras Center.
