PHILADELPHIA - Temple (12-9. 4-3 A-10) will try to avenge its recent 67-59 loss at Rhode Island (16-7, 5-3) when it hosts the Rams Sunday (2:00 p.m./1210 AM WPHT) in the second half of a women's/men's doubleheader. The Temple women host Saint Louis at noon to open the twinbill which also includes the 40th Anniversary celebration of the Owls' 1969 NIT Championship team. That squad, led by team captain John Baum, will be honored at halftime of the men's game.

The Cherry and White is coming off an 83-74 defeat at #9/9 Xavier Thursday night. The Musketeers held senior All-America candidate Dionte Christmas, the A-10's leading scorer (20.0 ppg.), to 12 points. Christmas, who also tops the league in three-pointers made per game (3.3 pg.), was held without a three-pointer in consecutive games for the first time since his freshman season.

Sophomore Lavoy Allen (10.4 ppg., 7.6 rpg.) recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in Thursday's loss. Senior Sergio Olmos (7.8 ppg.) tallied 18 points, one shy of his career-high and junior Ryan Brooks (10.9 ppg.) added 11 points.

senior Jimmy Baron, who ranks third on the all-time A-10 three-point list with 316 made, leads URI with a 16.5 scoring average. Kaheim Seawright, who led the Rams with 17 points in the earlier meeting against the Owls, averages 14.4 points and a team-best 7.0 rebounds while Delroy James (10.5 ppg., 6.1 rpg.) comes off the bench to average double figures. Keith Cothran (14.3 ppg,) has missed the last five games due to injury.

Temple leads the series 50-15, but the Rams have won three of the last four meetings including a 67-59 decision in Kingston 11 days ago.
