Lavoy Allen Named Big 5 Player Of The Week

Junior forward earns second honor of season
PHILADELPHIA – Temple junior forward Lavoy Allen has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending January 10. Allen, who led the #19/21 Owls to a 2-0 week, earns his second Big 5 honor of this season and fourth career Player of the Week award.
Allen averaged 18 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 59.3% from the field. He scored a game and season high 20 points and grabbed a game high 11 rebounds to lead Temple to a 73-46 win over Saint Joseph's on Jan. 6. He followed that with his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in a 68-64 overtime win at Rhode Island Sunday.
The Morrisville, Pa. native (Pennsbury High) is on pace to become the first Temple player to average a double-double since Ollie Johnson accomplished the feat in 1970-71. He currently leads the team with a 10.e rebound average while scoring at an 11.5 clip.
Temple next travels to Penn to take on the Quakers in a Big 5 contest Wednesday night (7:00 p.m.).
