Ryan Brooks Named A-10 Player Of The Week

Senior co-captain earns first weekly honor from the conference

PHILADELPHIA – Temple senior guard Ryan Brooks has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending January 16. Brooks, who earns his first A-10 Player of the Week honor of his career, averaged 20.0 ppg. and 5.3 rpg. while knocking down 10 three-pointers in leading Temple to a 3-0 record on the week

The Owl co-captain started the week by scoring 16 points, including eight in overtime, and pulling down ine rebounds as the Cherry and White won at Rhode Island, 68-64, on Jan. 10. In a Big 5 battle at The Palestra on Jan. 13, he led Temple with 15 points in a 60-45 win over Penn.

The Narberth, Pa. native (Lower Merion) saved his best for last as he exploded of a career-high 29 points, including the 1000th of his career, in leading his team to a 76-64 win over UMass at the Liacouras Center on Jan. 16. He also made a career-best seven three-pointers (12 attempts) against the Minutemen.

Brooks, who became the 45th Temple player to reach the 1000-point plateau, leads the Owls and ranks 10th in the A-10 in scoring with a 16.1 average. He also tops the team, and ranks sixth in the conference in free throw percentage (.803).

The Owls (15-3, 3-0) host Xavier (12-5, 4-0) Wednesday (7:00 p.m./The Comcast Network) in a battle of the top two teams in the A-10.
