Game Notes vs. Saint Louis
PHILADELPHIA - Temple is coming off its fourth straight win after defeating Penn by a score of 55-31 on Jan. 23, and the Owls will look for number five at Saint Louis on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. (EST). Gametracker is available for live stats here, and live webstreaming is available for a fee here.
The Owls have also won three straight A-10 games, earning wins vs. Fordham, Saint Joseph's and Rhode Island after losing their conference opener at #16/14 Xavier. The Owls sank a school-record 13 three-pointers, but could not overcome a large first-half deficit. Temple's 33-point win vs. Fordham in its next game was its largest margin of victory this season. Penn scored just 31 points against Temple, which is the lowest point total for any TU opponent this season.
Sophomore Kristen McCarthy and junior Qwedia Wallace lead the Owls with 12.7 and 12.0 points per game, respectively. Senior Jasmine Stone leads the team in rebounds at 8.6 per game, good enough for fifth place in the A-10.
Temple was without the services of starting point guard LaKeisha Eaddy (8.2 ppg, 3.8 apg) for its games vs. Xavier and Fordham after Eaddy suffered a concussion and broken nose in practice on Jan. 8. Eaddy returned in style on Jan. 16 vs. Saint Joseph's, scoring a game and season-high 17 points to help lead Temple to victory.
Sophomore BJ Williams (7.1 ppg, 3.1 apg) stepped in for Eaddy when she was out, and has now started in four of the last five games. Junior Marli Bennett (5.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg) has started every game this season, and scored a career-high 13 points at Rhode Island.
