Game Notes - Seton Hall

PHILADELPHIA - For her career performance against #7/7 Ohio State in Temple women's basketball's season opener on Nov. 12, senior Qwedia Wallace was named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week. Wallace scored 32 points including seven three-pointers in the 84-75 loss to the nationally-ranked Buckeyes. The Owls now head out on the road for a Tuesday night game at Seton Hall.

The Owls tied the Buckeyes 60-60 with under 10 minutes left in their first game of the season, but could not get a lead. It was the first season-opening loss for Temple since 2001, but it was also the highest-ranked team the Owls had ever faced in an opener.

Junior transfer and point guard Shey Peddy, who sat out last season due to NCAA Division I?transfer rules, scored 10 points and dished out a team-high seven assists in her Temple debut.

Seton Hall is also coming off a loss in its season opener, 64-57 at Florida Gulf Coast. Freshman Ka-Deidre Simmons led the Pirates with 19 points and seven rebounds, while junior Jasmine Crew scored 17 points.

The Pirates finished at 9-21 last season but are looking to turn things around under first-year head coach Anne Donovan, a well-known figure in women's basketball who previously coached WNBA and USA Basketball Teams.
