Temple-Akron Sunday Declared “Allen’s Town” Game

12.9.10 | Men's Basketball

Any fan with “Allen/Alan” in first or last name to receive discounted tickets

PHILADELPHIA  – In honor of Temple Athletics' “Allen's Town” campaign, which supports men's basketball All-America candidate Lavoy Allen, anyone with the first or last name of “Allen” or “Alan” will receive group pricing (as much as $7 off tickets) at the Box Office (must show ID) for this Sunday's Temple-Akron men's basketball game (3:00 p.m.) at the Liacouras Center.

A Naismith and Wooden Award candidate, Allen earned Atlantic 10 Conference co-Player of the Week honors on Monday after posting identical 13-point, 10-rebound games in road wins over Central Michigan (65-53, 12/1) and Maryland (64-61, 12/5).  They were his first double-doubles of the season and 29th of his career.

A 2010 first team all-Atlantic 10 Conference and USBWA All-District performer, Allen became the first Temple player to average a double-double since Ollie Johnson accomplished the feat in 1970-71, averaging 11.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per game as a junior in 2009-10.  The Morrisville, Pa. native (Pennsbury High) led the team in rebounding, blocks (50) and field goal percentage (.536) while ranking third with 83 assists.

The Owls (5-2) take on #9/10 Georgetown tonight (9:00 p.m./ESPN) before hosting Akron on Sunday
