Game Notes vs. Hartford

PHILADELPHIA - Looking to keep its win streak alive, the Temple women's basketball team will go for its fourth straight victory when it plays host to Hartford on Friday, Dec. 10 at 7:00 p.m. in McGonigle Hall. Live stats are available for the game, and a live webcast is available HERE.

Temple is coming off a dominating 75-48 win at Ohio on Dec. 6. after winning its other two games of the streak by a combined total of three points, defeating Rutgers 60-58 at home on Dec. 1 and going on the road to beat Auburn, 62-61 on Dec. 4. The victory at Auburn was the 50th career win for third-year head coach Tonya Cardoza.

At Auburn, junior Shey Peddy led the team in points (17), rebounds (9), assists (4) and steals (3). In the close victory against Rutgers, Peddy sank 2-of-2 at the free throw line with 2.3 seconds remaining for the final tally of 60-58. For her efforts, Peddy was named the Philadelphia Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Dec. 6.

Temple hit 10 three-pointers in back-to-back games at UCLA and vs. Rutgers, and also tallied 10 three's at Ohio. The Owls are averaging 8.0 treys per game (second in the A-10) and hitting 38.7 percent of their three-point attempts (also second in the A-10).

Hartford has a surprising record of 1-8 so far after going 27-5 last year and 20-12 the year before. The Hawks are led by sophomore guard Daphne Elliott with 8.8 ppg.

This is the third meeting between Temple and Hartford, and the Owls have not yet defeated the Hawks. Hartford took last year's meeting on its home court, 65-54. In March of 2006, Hartford beat Temple 64-58 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The 11th-seeded Hawks upset the 6th-seeded Owls to advance to the second round.
