Lavoy Allen Earns Third Big 5 Player Of The Week Honor

Junior forward averaged 17 rebounds and 15.5 points on the week
PHILADELPHIA – Temple junior forward Lavoy Allen has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending February 7. Allen, who led the #21/21 Owls to a 1-1 week, earns his third Big 5 honor of this season and fifth career Player of the Week award.
Allen averaged 15.5 points, 17 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 60 percent from the field. He scored 14 points and grabbed a game -high 15 rebounds to lead Temple to a 76-60 win over Duquesne on Feb. 3. He followed that with his fifth straight double-double and ninth of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing a career-high 19 rebounds in a 71-54 loss at Richmond Saturday.
The Morrisville, Pa. native (Pennsbury High) is on pace to become the first Temple player to average a double-double since Ollie Johnson accomplished the feat in 1970-71. He currently leads the team with a 10.6 rebound average while scoring at an 11.1 clip.
The Owls, 19-5, 7-2 in A-10, return to the Liacouras Center floor for a Saturday game against
Rhode Island (4:00 p.m./Comcast SportsNet). That is the second half of a men's/women's doubleheader with the Temple women hosting Charlotte (1:00 p.m.). It is also Hooter The Owl's Birthday with special promotions and giveaways surrounding the event.
