Fran Dunphy Named NABC District Coach of the Year

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University head coach Fran Dunphy has been named the NABC District 5 Coach of the Year. The Owls coach, who was named A-10 Coach of the Year earlier in the week, is also a finalist for the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year and the Skip Prosser Award.
Dunphy has guided the Owls to their first A-10 regular season championship since 2002. He also has led Temple to a 27-5 overall mark, tying for the third most wins in the program's history, and its first national ranking since 2001. Picked tied for fifth in the preseason poll, the Owls have been among the Top 25 in both polls for 12 straight weeks.
The Owls, next play #5-seed Rhode Island on Saturday in the semifinals at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall. Tip time is 1;00 p.m. with the game being televised live by CBS College Sports and broadcast on 1210 AM WPHT.
