Temple Men's Crew Fares Well at Keuper Cup

Owls win Keuper Cup Regatta Trophy
FELSMERE, FL - The Temple men's crew had a successful day at the Keuper Regatta, held on Canal 54 in Felsmere, FL on Saturday. The Owls won all three of the races they entered. In addition, Temple won the overall team point trophy winning six of the seven events contested, men's and women's combined.
With the benefit of a strong tailwind and a productive week of training the crews recorded very fast winning times. In the Varsity 8, Temple took an early lead, only to have Florida Tech move ahead at 350m into the race. Over the next 1250m, Temple fell back as much as 2/3 of a boat length. Stroke Pat Curran led a furious sprint in the last 400m to pull out the race by a scant 2/10 of a second, helping TU finish in a time of 5:40.1. TU's Keuper Cup champion crew consisted of cox Don Norris, stroke Pat Curran, Nenad Ninkovic, Jeff Wunderlich, Joe Bellesheim, Brian Rehill, Brendan Cunningham, Tom Masterson and John Masterson.
In the JV 8, TU led from wire to wire but never by more than 1/3 of a length. The winning time for the crew was 5:57.3. The crew consisted of cox Sam Gennace, stroke Jimmy Barr, Scott Waters, Mike Mirabella, Aaron Heyde, John Boehm, Peter Ivacic, Kevin Nally and Chris McCann.
The Owls also won the Varsity 4+. The crew of cox Nick Palastro, stroke John Boehm, Petar Ivacic, Kevin Nally and Alex Klein separated from the competition by a wide margin.
The men will head to San Diego, CA, for the San Diego Crew Classic on March 27-28.
