Box Score

SAINT LOUIS
– Three scoring innings was all Saint Louis needed to hand the Temple baseball team a 6-1 loss in game two Saturday afternoon in Saint Louis. Redshirt-senior Matt Mongiardini threw five innings, giving up as many runs in the start for the Owls.

Mongiardini (0-7) allowed eight hits and one walk, being chased with one out in the sixth. Redshirt-freshman Steve Visnic came on in relief, getting out of the jam and finishing the game allowing just one earned run.

SLU's Alex Aleman earned the win, allowing three hits and one run over nine.

Solo home runs in the fourth and fifth gave Saint Louis a 2-0 advantage, but a four run seventh split the game open.

Temple again attempted some late inning heroics, with junior Rafael Cordero leading things off with a double to left center. Cordero moved over on a groundout by sophomore Jabair Khan, plating on a sacrifice fly from senior Tony Jusino to make the final score 6-1.

The Owls are now 3-23, 1-7 in Atlantic 10 play while Saint Louis moves to 17-15, 5-3.

The series wraps up tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. CT.
