Box Score

SAINT LOUIS, Mo.
– The Temple baseball team held a 2-0 lead after two, but back-to-back three-run frames from the Billikens handed the Owls 13-4 series ending loss, Sunday afternoon at The BSC in Saint Louis.

Redshirt-sophomore Steve Nikorak took the hill to start for Temple, allowing three runs over as many innings. Seniors Matt Blackburn and Ryan Thomas, along with sophomore Dan Moller and redshirt-freshman Steve Visnic combined to finish the game.

SLU's Jerry Mancuso grabbed the win, allowing two runs over seven innings of work.

The Owls were first to light the scoreboard, posting two runs in the second inning. Junior Ryan Ferguson led off the inning with a single to left, scoring on a triple from classmate Byron McKoy. Sophomore Taylor Juran stepped up with a single up the middle, scoring McKoy to move the score to 2-0.

Saint Louis answered with three in the third and fourth, swapping runs with the Owls in the fifth. Temple junior Adrian Perez singled home sophomore Jabair Khan for the one run in the fifth.

The Cherry and White got one more back in the sixth, as Nikorak led off with a single and scored on a single from freshman Dan Dragos to put the tally at 7-4.

Five runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth from the Billikens would put the game out of reach, moving the final score to 13-4.

Temple is now 3-24, 1-8 in Atlantic 10 play while Saint Louis moves to 18-15, 6-3.

The Owls return home to host rival Saint Joseph's on Tuesday, April 13 at Skip Wilson Field. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
