PHILADELPHIA  – Temple University head coach Fran Dunphy will join the Honorable Michael A. Nutter, Mayor of Philadelphia and Joseph Frick, President and CEO of Independence Blue Cross, in greeting runners at the 2010 Blue Cross Broad Street Run this Sunday morning. Dunphy, Frick and Mayor Nutter will greet the runners and offer words of encouragement at Central High School Athletic Field (Broad and Somerville Avenue) prior to the 8:30 a.m. start of the 10-mile race, which is celebrating its 31st year.

Dunphy, who just finished his fourth season as the Owls' coach, earned his first career conference Coach of the Year honor when he was tabbed as the 2010 Atlantic 10 Conference Coach of the Year. He also was named the Eastern College Coach of the Year as well as the NABC District Coach of the Year.

In 2009-10, he guided the Owls to their third straight A-10 Tournament title and first A-10 regular season championship since 2002. Temple finished with a 29-6 overall mark, the third most wins in school history, and its first national ranking since 2001. Picked tied for fifth in the preseason A-10 poll, the Owls were ranked in the Top 25 in both polls during the final 12 weeks of the season. The #12 final ranking in the Associated Press poll tied for the fifth highest in program history.
