PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's Varsity 8 fell was unable to dethrone defending champion Jacksonville, falling by just under four seconds to the Dolphins Saturday afternoon in the Murphy Cup.
The Varsity 8, comprised of comprised of Don Norris (cox), Pat Curran (stroke), Nenad Ninkovic (7-seat), Jason Cartwright (6-seat), Brendan Cunningham (5-seat), Mike Mirabella (4-seat), Scott Waters (3-seat), Tom Masterson (2-seat) and John Masterson (bow), easily bested third place Williams College by over six seconds. Drexel, La Salle and Fordham rounded out the field.
The Owls raced two boats in the Second Varsity 8, placing second and third behind Drexel.
Temple next competes at the Knecht Cup on the Schuylkill River on April 10.
